EMS Students

We welcome veterinary students in their clinical years to join our team for extra-mural studies (EMS) and get a true insight into the life of an ambulatory equine vet. Our practice regularly hosts vet students, giving them the opportunity to work alongside our experienced vets on the road as they navigate the challenges and rewards of ambulatory practice.

You'll have the chance to experience a varied and busy caseload - perhaps observing and assisting with gastroscopy procedures in home stables, supporting lameness work-ups with corresponding X-rays, or seeing the day-to-day care involved in dentals and vaccinations during our Saver Days. There’s no better way to understand the pace, diversity, and communication skills involved in equine ambulatory work than to experience it firsthand.

As a fully ambulatory practice without horses on-site, for insurance reasons only vet students currently in their clinical years are eligible to join us, as this role requires travelling out in the van.

If you’re keen to explore the realities of equine ambulatory work and get a feel for whether it could be the right fit for your future, we’d love to hear from you!  Please fill out this form and we will be in touch with availability as spaces fill up fast.
